Connie & Tommy
A few weeks ago, Tommy fainted three times in one night. It's been seven years since he was diagnosed with dementia after driving on the wrong side of the road. Since then, a brain tumor and Parkinson's disease have also been added to his medical record.
He still lives with his wife, Connie, on a quiet residential street in Slagelse, Denmark. But Connie knows that Tommy will soon have to move to a nursing home.
Cost-cutting in the elderly sector means that the help offered by the municipality leaves some of the caretaking to Connie herself.
“The municipality offers Tommy one bath a week. That's not enough for me, so I wash him once in a while,” says Conny.
“He's my husband and I want him to stay that way.”
